We have worked with nonprofits in an official consulting capacity for ten years. We've volunteered with them personally for more than three decades. We know from experience that supporting a nonprofit can make a significant impact on both the community and you as an individual. In fact, you often get more than you give! Here are ten compelling reasons to support a nonprofit:

1. Make a Difference

  • Your support helps address pressing social issues and brings about positive change in the community. It often fills the gaps left in other sources of funding.

2. Personal Fulfillment

  • Contributing to a cause you care about can provide a deep sense of satisfaction and purpose. You also meet others who are driven by the cause.

3. Community Improvement

  • Nonprofits work to improve local communities, providing essential services and programs that benefit everyone. They help to fill the voids that are left and can help to drive projects that might not happen otherwise.

4. Tax Benefits

  • Donations to nonprofits are often tax-deductible, providing financial incentives for your generosity. They can also limit the amount of taxes owed on your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) from an IRA. Consult your tax advisor for more info.

5. Promote Social Justice

  • Supporting nonprofits can help address inequalities and promote fairness and justice for marginalized groups.

6. Build Connections

  • Engaging with a nonprofit can help you meet like-minded individuals and build strong community connections. It's a fantastic way for you and your business to network while doing good for others.

7. Encourage Innovation

  • Nonprofits often tackle problems with innovative solutions, driving progress and change in various fields. They often have more flexibility and are able to approach issues in less-structured ways.

8. Support Volunteers

  • Nonprofits provide opportunities for volunteers to give back, learn new skills, and gain valuable experiences. They can also help to build the resumes of individuals who are in the job market.

9. Inspire Others

  • Your support can inspire friends, family, and others in the community to get involved and make a difference. There's an element of peer pressure that can end up bringing a positive slant to involvement.

10. Leave a Legacy

  • By supporting a nonprofit, you can leave a lasting impact that continues to benefit future generations. Some organizations, like Community Foundations, offer means of giving gifts in perpetuity.

Supporting a nonprofit is a powerful way to contribute to causes you care about and make a meaningful impact on the world. If you have any specific questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask us or inquire with your your local nonprofit! They are always willing to assist.
